A graceful miniature epergne trumpet vase by Walter Oxley Ltd of Sheffield, England. The flared trumpet mouth sits on a slim tapered stem, anchored by a base of sweeping, curling scrollwork with a lovely Art Nouveau feel.
Pieces like this were used as single spill vases or bud vases. The underside is stamped "Made in England, Walter Oxley, Sheffield" with four small marks and the pattern number 1416.
The silver plating has worn back over the years, letting warm copper and brass tones come through for a rich aged patina. Pop a single stem in it, or let it stand on its own on a mantel or sideboard. Could also be used as a candle holder.
