A vintage cream jug by Bagley & Co., the English glassworks, in their much loved Empress pattern. This one dates to around the 1950s. The clear pressed glass is patterned with round thumbprint panels and crisp geometric stars, finished with a beaded, scalloped rim, a generous pouring lip and a sturdy handle.
Bagley first registered the Empress design in 1934 and made it for decades as part of a full tableware range, so it's a lovely piece to add to a collection or pair with other Bagley glass. Just right for milk or cream on the tea tray, or filled with a few garden flowers on the windowsill.
