Hi, we're Blair and Ben
We're the two op-shop fanatics behind Curious Finds, a small vintage homewares shop run from the Wairarapa, New Zealand. We hunt down pre-loved glassware, ceramics and curious little treasures and find them new homes all over the country.
How it started
Curious Finds started the way most op-shop habits do: one too many vases, a kitchen cupboard that wouldn't close, and a garage that slowly turned into a warehouse. At some point we realised we loved the hunt as much as the finds, and that other people might love them too. So we started sharing them.
How we find things
Most weekends you'll find us in op shops, at markets and garage sales, looking for the pieces we can't leave behind. We're drawn to things that are well made and a bit unexpected: Crown Lynn and NZ studio pottery, Irish Wade, Art Deco and carnival glass, and quirky ornaments with a bit of character.
Everything is checked in good light before it's listed. We photograph each piece ourselves and describe it honestly, including any chips, crazing or wear, and whether there's a maker's backstamp. Vintage comes with a bit of history, and we'd rather you know exactly what you're getting.
Why we do it
It's a small side business we run around our day jobs. We do it because well-made old things deserve a second home, not a landfill, and because there's nothing better than seeing a piece we loved go to someone who loves it even more. Buying vintage is also a slower, more sustainable way to make your home feel like yours.
Packed with care
Glass and ceramics are wrapped individually and boxed with plenty of padding, and we reuse every postage box and bit of packing we can. Orders are sent with tracking NZ-wide, usually within 3 business days.
New finds every Thursday
Our main drop goes live every Thursday evening, with the odd bonus drop in between. Sneak peeks go up on Instagram every Tuesday, or join our email list to hear the moment a drop is live.
The supervisors
No Curious Finds packing session happens without our two dogs, Archie and Maddie, who take their quality control role very seriously.
